AT&T’s Huge Settlement May Bring You Up to $7,500!

AT&T is preparing to make one of the largest privacy settlements recently seen, following two significant data breaches. The first breach, which occurred six years ago, compromised the information of 7.6 million customers, and a second breach revealed a year later affected 109 million individuals. In total, AT&T has consented to a payout of $177 million to those impacted.

On June 20, U.S. District Judge Ada E. Brown granted preliminary approval for the settlement related to the major breaches disclosed in 2024. As of August 4, the settlement administrator has begun accepting claims from affected customers.

The settlement categorizes claimants into two groups according to which breach they were subjected to, allowing those affected by both incidents to submit for remuneration from each. Depending on which breach you were impacted by, significant compensation may be on the horizon once the settlement is finalized.

If you were among those affected, you must file a claim by November 18, 2025 to ensure your eligibility. The following sections will provide detailed information about the substantial AT&T settlement, how to file your claim, and the data breaches that initiated this legal action.

Overview of AT&T’s Data Breaches

The two breaches leading to AT&T’s $177 million settlement took place in 2019 and 2024. Notably, AT&T did not publicly acknowledge the 2019 breach until March 2024, weeks after discovering customer data circulating on the dark web.

In the 2019 breach, personal identifiable information, including Social Security numbers, birth dates, and legal names, was compromised, impacting a total of 7.6 million current customers and 65.4 million former account holders. Following this revelation, AT&T implemented a security measure by resetting passwords for all active accounts affected by the breach.

The second data breach occurred shortly after the first was disclosed. In April 2024, hackers gained access to phone records from 2022 for nearly all of AT&T’s U.S. customer base, estimated at 109 million accounts, through the company’s cloud-based data warehouse, Snowflake. The breach was disclosed by AT&T in July 2024.

The hacking group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for similar attacks on other companies mid-2024. Following an investigation, two individuals were apprehended in connection with the AT&T breach.

Claiming Compensation from the AT&T Settlement

Kroll Settlement Administration manages the legal settlement for AT&T. They have established a website at telecomdatasettlement.com for eligible individuals to submit claims for compensation.

To proceed with filing a claim, affected individuals will need their “Class Member ID,” which should have been communicated through a notification, likely via email. If this email is untraceable, individuals are advised to check their spam or filtered folders.

If you believe you should be included in either segment of the AT&T settlement but did not receive a notification, or if you’re uncertain about your inclusion, you may reach out to the settlement administrator at 833-890-4930. Once you acquire a Claim Member ID from Kroll, you can complete the filing forms, which include any documented evidence of losses you may have suffered due to either breach.

Website traffic for the AT&T settlement has been monitored. Users may encounter a queue when attempting to submit claims. Recently, access required waiting approximately two minutes due to high traffic volumes.

For those who prefer not to file claims online, printed settlement forms are available for mailing. These include the claim form for the 2019 breach, the claim form for the 2024 Snowflake breach, and the claim form for those affected by both breaches. Mailed forms should be addressed to Kroll and postmarked by the deadline of November 18, 2025.

Potential Compensation from the AT&T Settlement

Victims’ compensation will depend on the number of claims received, but initial estimates can be drawn from the settlement terms. Affected individuals from the 2019 breach who can provide documentation of losses may receive up to $5,000. Those unable to prove losses will be awarded tiered cash payments based on whether their Social Security number was compromised.

For those impacted by the 2024 Snowflake breach, compensation can reach up to $2,500 for individuals who can substantiate a demonstrated loss. Those without such documentation will be entitled to a pro rata distribution of the remaining settlement funds.

Individuals impacted by both data breaches have the right to file claims in both categories. While it remains uncertain if individuals with losses from both incidents will receive a total of $7,500, the settlement documentation does not indicate otherwise.
