Maryland Community Colleges to Celebrate Ribbon Cutting Events as Cyber Workforce Accelerator Program Gains Momentum

Seven Schools Set for Event Launch in April and May

BCR Cyber, a prominent provider of cybersecurity training and job placement solutions, has partnered with the Maryland Association of Community Colleges (MACC) to announce a series of ribbon cutting events at Maryland’s community colleges. These events mark the initiation of the institutions’ participation in the Maryland Cyber Workforce Accelerator (CWA) program, enhancing training opportunities for students across the state.

The confirmed event dates for April and May will be revealed shortly, with additional dates to follow in the upcoming weeks. This program, developed collaboratively by MACC and BCR Cyber, grants all 16 of Maryland’s community colleges access to advanced Cyber Ranges through the BCR Cyber Series 3000. This innovative platform offers realistic simulations of cyber-attacks, enabling students to grasp complex cybersecurity concepts and techniques.

Participating colleges will utilize dedicated remote workstations to connect with these cyber ranges on-site, facilitating the integration of cutting-edge cybersecurity education into their curriculum. This approach enables Maryland community college students to engage in practical training within a hyper-realistic environment, working directly alongside peers and instructors. Upon completion of their studies, students will receive assistance with job placements, addressing the critical demand for cybersecurity professionals in Maryland.

Michael Spector, President and CEO of BCR Cyber, noted the essential role community colleges play in meeting the growing need for skilled IT and cybersecurity experts while simultaneously creating viable career paths and job opportunities for candidates within the state.

In addition to the educational component of the CWA, MACC and BCR Cyber are also implementing a Workforce Development aspect, which includes training and certification for SOC Operations Analyst I positions. Students completing this program will obtain an SOC Operations Analyst I Certification, an industry-recognized credential designed to equip graduates for entry-level roles in Security Operations Centers. This certification is aligned with federal standards and employer expectations, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges of the cybersecurity landscape.

BCR Cyber’s programs combine theoretical foundations with practical experiences, allowing students to swiftly transition into the cybersecurity workforce. To ensure alignment with current industry needs, BCR Cyber has formed a public-private consortium involving over 40 strategic industry partners who provide insights on evolving cybersecurity requirements.
