Skip Sorrels is a recognized figure in the cybersecurity sector, holding an MSCIA. His expertise fuses technical knowledge with a robust understanding of healthcare cybersecurity, allowing him to share valuable insights and foster thought leadership aimed at enhancing cybersecurity practices and nurturing the next generation of professionals in the field.
With more than 25 years of experience, Skip began his career in nursing within Texas’s intensive care units, trauma units, and transplant teams. His passion for technology eventually led him to Dell, where he played a pivotal role in architecting solutions tailored for the Department of Defense. As the Director of Cybersecurity at Ascension Healthcare—one of the largest nonprofit healthcare providers in the nation—he successfully developed a comprehensive medical device cybersecurity program over six years. This pivotal achievement enabled him to expand his responsibilities to include the creation of operational technology (OT) cybersecurity programs and the exploration of emerging realms within the XIoT landscape.
