OpenText Unveils Plans for Enhanced Threat Detection and AI Integration

In a recent announcement, OpenText, a leader in information management solutions, detailed its strategic commitment to enhancing cyber threat detection and response capabilities through its executive vice president Muhi Majzoub. This initiative will focus on incorporating security features directly into its information management systems while leveraging generative artificial intelligence (AI) to improve product functionalities.

The company aims to bolster its threat detection and response framework by integrating it with established platforms such as Microsoft and CrowdStrike. This integration is designed to facilitate the swift identification of anomalies across various systems, including SAP and Salesforce, as well as OpenText’s proprietary content and supply chain tools. According to Majzoub, these enhancements will also employ critical tools like identity management and data tokenization, which are essential for safeguarding personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive data.

Majzoub voiced concerns regarding the vulnerabilities associated with storing data in public cloud environments. He emphasized that such data could be exploited by malicious actors, including those utilizing generative AI technologies for nefarious purposes. "We are endeavouring to shield our customers and partners from these types of threats while also securing our own platforms, networks, data centers, employees, and their identities,” he stated.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Majzoub elaborated on the company’s holistic approach to security. He discussed not only the integration of security within content management and supply chain tools but also articulated the risks associated with data misuse on public AI platforms.

Furthermore, Majzoub highlighted OpenText’s aspirations towards advanced technologies, mentioning investments in facial recognition systems and behavioral analytics as part of their ongoing efforts to innovate within the cybersecurity landscape. His vision for the company aligns with a broader industry trend of embedding security within the fabric of technological infrastructures.
