Cloud Defender Stream.Security Secures $30M Funding to Pursue Expansion in the US

AI-Driven Cloud Security Firm Stream.Security Secures $30 Million Investment for Growth

Stream.Security, a cloud security startup spearheaded by a former Nvidia executive, has successfully completed a Series B funding round, raising $30 million. This investment is aimed at enhancing product capabilities, particularly in the areas of auto-remediation and hybrid cloud support. The company’s mission is to build robust defenses against increasingly sophisticated AI-driven cyberattacks.

Founded in 2020, Stream.Security is based in Tel Aviv, Israel, and has garnered a total of $55 million in funding following this latest investment. The firm, originally operating under the name Lightlytics, is helmed by co-founder and CEO Or Shoshani, who previously played a key role in business development at Nvidia and served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shoshani emphasized that the funding will be pivotal in developing advanced tools to counter the rapid and complex nature of AI-assisted attacks.

With many businesses encountering challenges in responding to threats swiftly—often taking over seven hours to mitigate dangers—Stream.Security aims to significantly reduce this latency. Shoshani mentioned that the firm’s innovative cloud architecture allows it to provide real-time remediation using minimal resources while avoiding operational downtime. This unique capability positions Stream.Security to become a leader in automating responses to cloud security threats.

The backdrop to this investment is the alarming trend of AI-driven attacks. Shoshani noted that traditional cybersecurity defenses struggle to keep pace with these new methods, as recent incidents have demonstrated. He highlighted that in some cases, attackers were able to exfiltrate data in less than three minutes. As AI continues to evolve, it is projected that 94% of cyberattacks within the next two years will be powered by artificial intelligence. This shifts the landscape significantly, necessitating that cybersecurity solutions adapt to offer real-time monitoring and immediate response capabilities.

The latest funding round was led by U.S. Venture Partners, a relationship Shoshani values for their expertise in helping early-stage companies carve out effective go-to-market strategies. Stream.Security aims to capitalize on this partnership to establish a stronger presence in the American market, focusing on building local community engagements and partnerships while raising brand awareness amongst potential enterprise clients.

Recognizing that businesses increasingly adopt multi-cloud architectures, Stream.Security plans to extend support beyond Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure to include Google Cloud Platform. This expansion strategy is crucial as firms navigate diverse cloud environments, where seamless integration and protection are vital for maintaining overall security.

With a growing workforce of 57 employees, Stream.Security has achieved remarkable growth within Fortune 500 companies, even with a modest marketing footprint. Shoshani underscores that this trajectory will continue as the firm enhances both its sales and product development capabilities. The future vision includes not only expanding its product suite but also reinforcing its commitment to addressing the nuanced challenges posed by AI-enhanced cyber threats.

In consideration of the MITRE ATT&CK framework, the tactics employed by adversaries in these types of attacks likely include initial access through phishing or exploitation of vulnerabilities, followed by persistence mechanisms that allow ongoing access to targets. Additionally, techniques such as privilege escalation and data exfiltration could also be part of the attack process, highlighting the need for comprehensive, dynamic defenses in a cloud landscape that is increasingly vulnerable to sophisticated threats.

As organizations seek to bolster their cybersecurity posture, the advancements offered by Stream.Security represent a significant step forward in aligning with modern requirements for protection against an evolving threat landscape.
