Everfox has announced its acquisition of Yakabod, a company previously led by the former Chief Technology Officer of ManTech, in a strategic move to bolster its capabilities in managing insider risks and responding to cyber incidents. This acquisition is positioned as a necessary step to adapt to the increasing sophistication of cyber threats and the demands they place on case management systems.

The firm, based in the Washington, D.C. area, emphasizes that advancements in artificial intelligence and the changing landscape of cyber threats necessitate more robust case management and workflow tools. CEO Sean Berg noted that the transition from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partnership to full ownership will facilitate tighter integration and provide an improved user experience.

“This technology is essential as we expand our large portfolio focused on insider risks, providing crucial case management solutions,” expressed Berg in an interview with Information Security Media Group. He highlighted how the decision to acquire Yakabod rather than continuing a partnership reflects deeper business alignment, allowing for a smooth integration of the two companies’ development and operational teams.

Reason for Acquisition

Founded in 2001 by Scott Ryser, Yakabod is a small firm with 20 employees and no outside funding. As an established player in case management for government sectors, its technology aligns with Everfox’s goal to meet the stringent compliance and assurance demands prevalent in high-stakes environments. According to Berg, converting their OEM partnership to ownership will not only enhance integration but also promote quicker innovation and added value across Everfox’s offerings.

Through this acquisition, Everfox aims to create a unified platform that integrates seamlessly with its services, benefiting customers who require cohesive solutions for managing insider threats and cyber incidents. “Our aim is to leverage our comprehensive relationships in government and critical infrastructure to enhance our service delivery significantly,” Berg stated, emphasizing the need for a single corporate identity to streamline processes and enhance overall customer value.

Yakabod’s suite of case management tools is designed to cater to sensitive investigations encompassing all aspects of user activity monitoring through to incident response.
